SUMMARY:
Performs designated work and cleaning routines for the dietary department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the director. Work routines may include dishwashing pot and pan washing, cleaning, preparing foods for steamtable/serving area, working in serving area, and serving the dining room.
- Follows established reporting procedures for the following:
- Inform supervisor of supply or equipment needs
- Any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring or equipment
- Any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment
- Any conditions conducive to breeding insects rodents or other vermin
· Cleans equipment, work areas, and dining room as assigned
· Fills water coolers, coffee stations and snack stations as assigned
· Follows defined safety codes while preforming all duties and follow infection control procedures
· Understand fire and disaster plans and follow established procedures during drills and emergencies.
· Takes direction from the cook in charge in absence of the dietary director.
· Works with all member of the dietary team as well as other departments
· Sets tables according to usual guidelines in fine dining
· Takes orders from residents and relays information to the cook per protocols
· Delivers food to tables and continues to check on residents throughout the meal for additional requests
· Clears tables and clears tables after meals
· Treats residents and guests with respect and displays kindness and compassion.
· Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure food safety.
- Rotate and store food supplies. Monitors dining room and calls for nursing staffs should they notice any resident needs medical attention.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· High school diploma or GED required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and is proficient in the use of the English Language in verbal and written form.

· Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting food products (both plant and animal) for consumption, including storage/handling techniques.
· Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

SERVICE STANDARDS:

Remembers that work with seniors is challenging and fun but that at some times may be difficult when they are dealing with diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s. Attends and participates in mandatory facility-wide and department training/meetings as required. Is able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of fire, safety, security, and disaster procedure regulations as presented in orientation, outlined in the safety manual, and as pertains to each work area.
Required to respond to emergency situations (i.e. disasters, hurricanes, etc.) by reporting to department and staying until the crisis is over or your position is covered by incoming personnel. This is a mandatory requirement. Refusal to respond may result in termination.
