Title of Position: School Psychologist
A. Description of Position:
To provide psychological services in assigned school sites; to strengthen the educational process through providing information relative to the students' intellectual, social, and emotional status.
B. Directly Responsible to Director of Student Services
C. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Administers, interprets and records Findings of a variety of psychological and academic tests for students referred for possible special education services in District or County programs
2. Services as the case manager for all students referred and receiving special education services
3. Makes recommendations for placement and /or adaptation of regular and/or special programs to child's social, emotional, and academic functioning
4. Communicates findings and recommendations to parents and appropriate school personnel
5. Consults and assists in the development and implementation of student individual education plans
6. Coordinates and assists in the systematic re-assessment of students in special education programs in accordance with state regulations
7. Serves the best interests of the special education student by acting as his/her advocate
8. Serves as a resource person in fields related to the psychologist's training and expertise
9. Serves as a member of the different committees dealing with student problems or special placement
10. Communicates, consults, and collaborates with the Butte County SELPA, as well as special agencies
11. Assists with in-service programs for parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals or para-professionals
12. Works with regular school personnel as well as special education personnel to create and maintain a positive relationship
13. Participates in Crisis Team interventions
14. Maintains professional competence through participation in professional growth activities
15. Serves as a clinical supervisor for counseling/school psychologist interns in training at school sites
16. Provides counseling services
17. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
Qualifications:
Credentials: Pupil Personnel Services Credential, School Psychology authorization
Education: Masters Degree in educational or clinical psychology or related area
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,496.00 - $128,327.00 per year
