Assistant Golf Professional (Seasonal Staff- 6 months)
Summary: Ensures that member and guest golfers receive exceptional service with all their golfing needs, including but not limited to merchandise, tournaments, check-in, club-fitting, instruction, cart & club rental, and other day-to-day operations. Assists with the coordination of golf events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
- Assists the Directors of Golf Operations in maintaining tee times advanced bookings, committee meetings, Member/Guests and other programs and events and teaching individual, junior, and group lessons.
- Organizes and runs golf events which include Men’s and Women’s nine and eighteen-hole association as well as seasonal leagues. Sets up and run club tournaments for the entire golf membership.
- Creates and develops a productive staff that monitors pace of play on both courses while communicating to members, rangers and starters.
- Ensures that members and guests have an enjoyable time while on the golf course and enforces security for members and guests pertaining to who is and is not to be on the golf course.
- Manages staff responsibilities, including updating daily checklists, updating software, and scheduling.
- Communicate complaints of membership to the Director of Golf Operations.
- Assist in the development of golf revenues.
- Responsible for both golf courses and practice facility direct supervision of the following: Making sure penalty areas are painted and staked properly, “Out of Bounds” are staked properly, maintaining any ground under repair, maintaining tee times and pace of play in coordination with the starter on a daily-bases and in coordination with Outside Operations Supervisor, and Director of Golf develop a schedule for Practice Tee rotation to best utilize turf conditions.
- Communicates with members, co-workers, management, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of the Paradise Valley Country Club.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Golf Operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High golf knowledge of the game, etiquette, handicapping, rules, tournaments, and teaching is a must for this position.
- Knowledge of tournament preparations and procedures.
- Requires excellent communication skills and time management skills.
- Requires strong knowledge of USGA & PGA programs and eligibility to participate in the PGA Golf Professional Training Program.
- Requires a strong playing and teaching background.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
- Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and members.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree (A.A) or bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Complete the requirements of PGA membership and maintain an active classification in the PGA of America.
