We are currently looking to fill the position of Manager of Warehouse and Inventory Operations with a starting range of $95,000 - $115,000/year, dependent upon experience, education, and skills. This position requires a full-time onsite presence.
Paragon 28, a leading orthopedic medical device company, is seeking a Manager of Warehouse Operations to oversee the daily functions of our warehouse. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing the inventory, storage, distribution, and overall efficiency of our warehouse operations. This role requires a strong focus on inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and team management to ensure the timely and safe delivery of products that meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift personnel and would be required to manage and work all shifts as necessary.
- Warehouse Management: Oversee all warehouse operations, ensuring safe, efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of orthopedic medical devices and materials in compliance with industry standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of warehouse staff, ensuring they are cross-trained, motivated, and productive. Conduct performance reviews and manage scheduling.
- Inventory Control: Ensure inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and comprehensive audits. Perform a quarterly Supplier inventory reconciliation, this includes verifying the completeness and accuracy of confirmations, performing a variance analysis to identify discrepancies, and categorizing variances (e.g., missing items, quantity mismatches). Any discrepancies are followed up with the vendor reconciliation with the Supply Chain team to resolve discrepancies, ensuring the inventory accuracy on material classified as WIP.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards, including OSHA and FDA guidelines for handling medical devices. Implement continuous improvement practices to reduce warehouse-related risks.
- Process Optimization: Develop and implement best practices for warehouse operations, including picking, packing, shipping, and returns management. Strive to improve operational efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments. Work with freight carriers, ensuring that transportation is optimized for cost and time efficiency.
- Technology Integration: Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP systems to track inventory, monitor warehouse performance, and improve operational efficiencies. Drive the use of automation and new technologies to improve warehouse functions.
- Quality Control: Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all shipments comply with product specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, including sterilization and packaging protocols.
- Data Analytics, Reporting & Documentation: Prepare reports for senior management regarding warehouse performance metrics, inventory levels, and any potential issues. Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including lot numbers and serial numbers where applicable. Maintain and analyze inventory data, generating reports on stock movements, trends, and discrepancies.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze warehouse workflows and propose improvements to increase productivity, accuracy, and efficiency while maintaining compliance with medical device industry standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in orthopedic or medical device warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with automated warehouse systems, barcoding, and RFID technology.
- Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
- Forklift certification and other warehouse equipment experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience. MBA and advanced certifications (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma) are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse management, ideally in the medical device, healthcare, or manufacturing industries.
- Proven experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), SAP highly preferred. Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of FDA regulations and ISO 13485 compliance in relation to warehouse operations for medical devices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Experience in inventory control, logistics, and shipping/receiving operations.
- Knowledge of safety standards and risk management practices in a warehouse environment.
