Role summary
This position is responsible for oversight/coordination of all scheduling act related to the customer service, procurement, manufacture, testing and distribution of a cell therapy product. Working as a liaison between the Manufacturing, Quality and Sales teams to ensure proper scheduling of new orders for receipt and processing, prepares and maintain the daily production schedule for all cell culture activities and coordinates with all stakeholders to ensure orders are properly prepared and shipped according to customer requirements and all applicable regulations. This position is also responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all paperwork related to order tracking and scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Organize to service each business division while maintaining and improving overall operational and departmental efficiencies.
- Interface cross-functionally at all levels within the company, including communication with external resources and concerns, such as freight forwarders, third party providers and governmental agencies.
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions for issues of a moderate to complex scope.
- Ensure proper compliance and adherence to all appropriate health and safety regulations and cleanliness requirements are followed both with regards for personnel and inventory safety.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of finished goods and raw material warehouse. Directs the operations of the warehouse team to achieve objectives.
- Oversees warehousing activities to ensure processes and procedures are understood and followed; oversees warehouse compliance for inventory management, product handling, and other services as required.
- Develop and maintain a productive work team via training and career development. Effect necessary communication and motivation to staff. Monitors individual performance via observation and review of various productivity metrics. Counsels and disciplines, as necessary.
- Consistently promote a strong corporate culture, quality, and high-performance work teams.
- Promote continuous improvement including strategic reviews for the warehouse, customer service-related functions utilizing quality process and participation in high performance and self-directed work teams.
- Responsible for administrative functions such as budgeting, equipment and liaison to Quality and Manufacturing teams.
- Act as logistics facilitator to ensure that all elements of the distribution process are coordinated to meet customer/clinical requirements in a timely and high-quality manner.
- Develop and ensure that established policies, rules and regulations and procedures are followed.
- Develop visible procedure and key performance indicators to monitor quality and regular measurements to determine effectiveness of procedures implemented for inventory control, purchasing, planning, and forecasting.
- Meet or exceed established goals relative to on-time delivery and shipping accuracy performance for customer/clinical shipments.
- Improve operational efficiencies to increase ability to process customer/clinical orders using both systems and physical improvements.
- Meet with department heads about sales, purchasing, manufacturing and quality, so the warehouse activities remain coordinated and running smoothly.
- Keep stock control systems up to date and planning future capacity requirements.
- Provide warehouse safety leadership and is responsible for improved safety performance in the facility.
- Drives costs savings with a focus on Visibility, Variability and Volume.
- Provides proactive communications and solutions for distribution issues.
- Provides direction for systems improvements and changes to operational requirements.
- Communicates manufacturing capacity to the Clinical Support Center and coordinate the schedule for incoming customer orders and outgoing drug product shipments.
Computer Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with computerized tracking systems.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education/Experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years’ experience working in logistics of biotechnology or pharmaceutical products within a CGMP setting.
- 3 years’ supervisory experience
Preferred
- Six Sigma, 5S or LEAN certification
- Five years plant production/warehouse supervision experience
- Proficient in Root Cause Analysis or similar methodology
