Job Description:
This senior-level role involves managing complex forensic cases related to personal injury lawsuits or claims. Responsibilities include case management, file material review, site inspections, and collaboration with support staff. As a lead consultant, you will evaluate property conditions that may have caused or contributed to injurious events and/or property damage. This position also involves providing expert testimony, writing reports, and declarations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead consultant on cases, overseeing case management and collaboration with support staff
- Evaluate property conditions, codes, regulations, plans, and permits
- Review case-related materials, including depositions, statements, photographs, and reports
- Perform site inspections, taking photographs and measurements using technical instruments
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or higher
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of employment
- At least 5 years' experience in forensics, with a high case load and short deadlines
- Effective time management and leadership skills
- Experience with property records research and plan review
- Familiarity with concrete construction and other building materials
- Strong reading comprehension, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic tools/equipment (camera, tape measure, level, etc.)
- Reliable transportation and eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years' experience in forensics
- Prior experience in building and safety (municipal jurisdictional building department, OSHA, construction consulting firm, etc.)
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and standards associated with construction practices and safety
- Familiarity with various construction and maintenance materials, including concrete and asphalt
