Repair Technician

GENERAL SUMMARY:  Follows instructions on procedures for evaluating, and repairing returned pumps.  Works under limited supervision.  Primary job functions typically require exercising independent judgment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Evaluates Return Pumps.  Duties include hi-pot testing pumps, test-run pumps, draining diesel fuel from pumps, and tearing down of pumps.  
2. Creates inspection reports based on evaluations, takes pictures if necessary, generates final findings, and submits final findings for review.
3. Refers to the Return Pump Log to identify next pump in line to be evaluated or rebuilt.
4. Responsible for rebuilding, leak and performance testing, and preparing pumps for return to customer.
5. Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates including maintaining the cleanliness of the shop, and reporting daily status to Repair Department Supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

1. This position requires a versatile person who is detail oriented, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
2. Manual dexterity is necessary to perform the job safely and ensure proper assembly.
3. Ability to modify MS Word documents, and to input data into MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Access forms.
4. Must have mechanical and analytical aptitude.
5. Capable of following written and verbal instructions.
6. Ability to work well with limited supervision.
7. Skilled at using hand tools such as drills, wrenches, and hammers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High School diploma or equivalent strongly desired.
2. Forklift certification is not required but is a plus.
3. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is desired but not required.
4. Prior experience in construction, roofing, welding, and other jobs involving working with hand tools is a plus.
