PPS, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified HR Manager in Pecos, Texas.
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
- Provide oversight and direction for all Human Resource related matters for a 600 detention and security operation.
- Processes, verifies and maintains personnel related documentation, including staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, classifications, and employee leaves of absence.
- Review and approve FMLA requests.
- Keep accurate records of FMLA documents.
- Explains company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants.
- Records data for each employee including such information as addresses, weekly earnings, absences, supervisory reports on performance, and dates of and reasons for terminations.
- Gathers personnel records from other departments or employees.
- Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provide information for personnel actions.
- Answers questions regarding examinations, eligibility, salaries, benefits, and other pertinent information
- Complies and prepares reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities.
- Requests information from law enforcement officials, previous employers, and other references to determine applicants’ employment acceptability.
- Processes and reviews employment applications to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants,
- Arranges for advertising or posting of job vacancies and notify eligible workers of position availability.

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen or LPR
- Valid state security officer’s license
- Not currently employed by federal agency/active duty military
- HS Graduate or GED
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Knowledge of employment labor laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, Government regulations, executive orders, agency rules and the democratic political process
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning resource allocation, HR Modeling, leadership technique, productions methods and coordination of people and resources
- Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services (i.e., customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction)
- Ability to monitor/assess performance of self, other individuals and organizations to make improvements or task corrective action
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Knowledge of principles and processes for personnel recruitment, selection, training, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and human resources information systems.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, coordination of people and resources
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
