Job Title: Accounting Manager
Reports To: Corporate Controller
Position Overview: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations within the organization, managing staff, and ensuring the accuracy of the financial reporting. Assist in reconciling and analyzing the financial operation of PVA and its entities. Manage and be responsible for all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Manages vendor risk, procurement, and contracting processes. Filling in for the Assistant Controller role as needed. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller and indirectly to the CFO. Supervises (1) Sr. Accountant (3) Staff Accountants.
Position responsibilities and duties:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Manage/lead one senior accountant and three staff accountants.
- Monitors and reconciles the components of the financial accounts on a continual and timely basis to ensure the accuracy and validity of account balances.
- Administrator for Intacct, Bill.com, Concur, and BOA Cash Pro.
- Coordinates and reviews all monthly account reconciliations.
- Responsible for month-end close and preparing and reconciling. Assist with Monthly Financial Statements and answering questions from the CFO & Controller after review.
- Oversee Fundraising joint cost allocation calculations.
- Performs the following every month:
- Review and approve bank reconciliations.
- Review and approve fixed assets and lease amortization.
- Review check list for month-end close for the trial balance reconciliation.
- Manages and supports the risk assessment of key vendors. Including partnering with Directors to prepare initial assessments of the inherent and business risks, preparing recommendations to the CFO, and monitoring the high-risk vendors.
- Oversee the procurement and contracting processes.
- Prepare functional expense report for audit. Ensure that various audit lead schedules are accurate and provided on a timely basis.
- Maintain a chart of accounts.
- Support the Assistant Controller with 990 preparation.
- Post journal entries.
- Assist accounting staff in preparing Equipment and rent Lease Amortization
- Assist accounting staff on Bill.com sync errors.
- Responsible for the Year End Close.
- Performs key functions of the Assistant Controller as needed.
- Performs additional tasks and undertakes specific projects as assigned to support the Finance department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required in Accounting or Finance
- At least five years of related experience in the nonprofit sector including supervisory skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel and Pivot tables.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational, and stress management skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines

- Proficient in Sage Intacct, required
- Proficient in Concur & BILL, a plus
- Travel required – up to 15%
