Job Description:
The NYC Office of Technology and Innovation is seeking an experienced NG911 Telephony NENA Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Next Generation 9-1-1 emergency call system upgrade. The SME will play a crucial role in architectural design, procurement, and implementation phases, ensuring compliance with industry standards and stakeholder requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with NENA and APCO standards during NG911 implementation.
- Translate business needs into clear, detailed requirements and user stories.
- Conduct stakeholder analysis and manage elicitation tasks.
- Assess and validate Call Handling requirements for NYC.
- Collaborate with public safety and stakeholder agencies to address their needs.
- Incorporate applicable federal, state, and industry standards into the NG911 system.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 12 years of experience in telephony, public safety, or related fields.
- Deep knowledge of SIP and TDM technologies.
- Expertise in IP-PBX/VoIP system engineering.
- Understanding of NENA i3 standards.
- Strong leadership in technical discussions with vendors and teams.
- Technical writing and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in public safety environments.
- Strong IP voice management, auditing, and monitoring skills.
- Familiarity with Logging and Recording technologies for IP PBXs.
- Ability to engage with internal and external partners in troubleshooting sessions.
