Summary: This position is responsible for all facets of our manufacturing accounting department. As a privately owned manufacturing company, this position requires the understanding of all the complexities of managing, supporting and advising senior leadership on all areas of financial support operations and performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead in the month-end and year-end close process by performing P&L and balance sheet reporting; additionally, various general accounting activities, including but not limited to journal entries (e.g. sales revenue validation, sales-in-transit, chemical consumption, change in inventory, etc.) and account reconciliations for assigned areas.
- Analyze Company operating results and develop revenue/expense variance reports and presentations.
- Support the monthly physical inventory process of finished goods.
- Work closely with Plant Manager and other operations supervisors on reporting requirements and special projects.
- Supervise daily invoices and credits.
- Provide monthly inventory management reporting to support best practices (e.g. % obsolete, inventory aging, etc.)
- Respond to external auditor requests for support documentation.
- Support effective operation with monitoring and implementation of company internal controls
- Leads company annual audit by working closely and supporting external auditors
- Constantly seeks to improve existing processes to align with best practices, to reduce workload, and improve reporting accuracy and controls.
- Supervise the proper procedures and distribution of bi-weekly payroll for entire company
- Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; Masters preferred; combination of experience and education will be considered
- Virginia CPA license preferred
- At least 5 years experience managing and direction accounting staff
- At least 5 years’ experience in job cost accounting
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning; preferred
- Experience with EPICOR; preferred
