Job Summary
The Paramedic Supervisor oversees the daily operations of EMS personnel, ensuring high-quality patient care, compliance with protocols, and efficient service delivery. This role involves managing staff, coordinating schedules, maintaining equipment and supplies, and serving as a clinical leader to support the organization's mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Supervisory Duties
- Oversee and manage the performance of EMTs, AEMTs, and paramedics.
- Schedule and assign shifts to ensure adequate coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for EMS staff to enhance clinical skills and professional growth.
- Address and resolve personnel issues, including disciplinary actions, in collaboration with HR.
Operational Management
- Monitor daily operations to ensure adherence to company policies and protocols.
- Coordinate ambulance deployments to optimize response times and service efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EMS regulations.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for EMS operations.
Patient Care
- Serve as the lead clinician during high-acuity calls when necessary.
- Provide guidance and oversight to crews to ensure optimal patient care.
- Assist in reviewing and auditing Patient Care Reports (PCRs) for accuracy and completeness.
- Stay updated on the latest clinical guidelines and incorporate them into practice.
Training and Development
- Organize and facilitate ongoing education, certification, and training programs.
- Conduct skills assessments and ensure team readiness for diverse scenarios.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the department.
Equipment and Inventory
- Ensure all medical equipment and vehicles are maintained and operational.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering and stocking of medical supplies.
- Conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
Incident Management
- Respond to major incidents and serve as the on-scene EMS leader when required.
- Collaborate with other agencies and departments during emergencies.
- Assist in post-incident reviews and create after-action reports.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare and submit reports on departmental performance, staffing, and incidents.
- Participate in strategic planning and recommend process improvements.

Education and Experience
- Current certification as a Paramedic State Certification.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR) systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of EMS protocols, regulations, and clinical best practices.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Instructor-level certifications (preferred).
- Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Has to be able to pass a background check.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Physical demands include lifting and carrying patients and equipment.
