The Director of Nursing (DON) oversees the clinical operations of an Assisted Living and Memory Care facility, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with all regulations. This leadership role involves managing nursing staff, developing care plans, and collaborating with families, residents, and healthcare professionals to promote a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Supervise, train, and mentor nursing and caregiving staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement staff development programs.
- Serve as a liaison between healthcare professionals, residents, families, and administration.
Resident Care & Clinical Oversight
- Ensure the highest standards of care for residents, including medication management, assessments, and personalized care plans.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor residents’ health and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
- Implement best practices for care in the Memory Care unit.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain compliance with state regulations governing assisted living facilities.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Oversee infection control and risk management programs.
- Ensure proper documentation and charting in accordance with state healthcare regulations.
Family & Community Engagement
- Communicate effectively with residents’ families, addressing concerns and providing updates on care plans.
- Participate in resident and family care conferences on health, dementia, and wellness topics.
- Assist with outside assessments prior to admission and admission assessments.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific requirements apply).
- Minimum 1 year in assisted living, memory care or long term care.
- Preferred leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of memory care practices and state regulations related to assisted living.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and state reporting systems.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, resident-focused environment.
- Requires on-call availability for emergencies.
- Combination of documentation/progress noting and direct interaction with residents/staff.

Pay: $93,600.00 - $104,000.00 per year
