Paramount Pictures is hiring: Producer, Transportation in New York

CBS News is looking for a collaborative, creative, driven beat producer / reporter to research, develop, and create content across multiple platforms, including reporting on camera for the CBS News national streaming platform, “24 / 7.”

The successful candidate will have a track record of urgently identifying and generating breaking and day-of news content, as well as developing longer-term, in-depth enterprise content, while maintaining the highest ethics in news gathering and production. This person will work directly with the senior coordinating producers of our specific beat units, and with CBS News and Stations correspondents, producers, photographers, graphic artists, and others to build breakthrough content for multiple platforms. Ability to collaborate, flex and multitask is a must. The producer / reporter will assist with breaking news coverage and supply ideas to help distinguish our reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Explore and report on new, important, compelling content with clear value to the audience. Focus areas will include beats including transportation and infrastructure.
• May be assigned to report on camera for national streaming coverage.
• Write scripts independently and in partnership with other individuals.
• Continuously engage in editorial processes, including pitches, story development, script approval, fact checking and legal review. Ensure completeness, balance, and diverse points of view in reporting, in addition to accurate, well-documented, bulletproof content.
• Assist with shooting and editing video to create story elements ranging from newscast packages to longform content and marketing assets.
• Coordinate production elements, such as graphic design, digital layout, and talent presentation in the field or in studio.
• Facilitate highly effective collaboration and frequent communication inside the beats team, including reporters, producers, photographers, and managers throughout CBS News and Stations.
• Help coordinate daily workflow and content execution of reporters and photographers, including assignments, timelines, and resource prioritization.
• Assist beat teams in engaging with partners, such as marketing, affiliates, etc.
• Efficiently apply newsgathering and investigative tactics to acquire information and story elements, such as developing relationships, cultivating sources, strategically landing interviews, navigating open records laws, and using computer-assisted reporting techniques.
• Understand, interpret, and simplify data and other complex information, and then communicate the points and themes to the team in a clear, concise way.
• Urgently develop and implement angles to elevate breaking news and major story coverage.
• May require producing in the field from various locations as needed for the gathering and presentation of content.
• Must be willing to work an unpredictable schedule as assigned.

Hiring Salary Range : $100,000.00 - 140,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
