What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer and Production Assistant position at Paramount Signs?
Paramount Signs is looking for a part-time Graphic Designer and Production Assistant to join our team and contribute to projects. This is a great opportunity to strengthen design competencies and learn how they apply in the 3D world. You will follow projects from concept to design, then to production and installation. Hours are flexible and may fluctuate based on design and production workloads. This is a skills development position.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Work directly with the Designer and Production Manager in a collaborative environment
- Adhere to design guidelines and production procedures
- Provide regular updates on the status of projects, enhancements, and incidents
- Provide solutions and ideas to solve special project requirements
- Receive daily tasks from management and take responsibility for the result
Graphic Design Tasks*
- Develop skills for creating vehicle lettering & wrap layouts on a PC utilizing Adobe Illustrator.
- Adhere to brand guides and honor client’s vision
- Work with client-provided assets such as images, illustrations, or fonts
- Source design assets such as images or fonts as needed
- Work closely with the Design/Production manager to provide mockups and designs
- Create final production-ready files based on supplied specifications for screen and digital printing
Production Tasks*
- Organize, file, proofread and quality check production artwork
- Cut, laminate, weed, and mount graphics to substrates
- Follow work orders to use proper materials and follow procedure for keeping inventory
- Learn and operate large-format printer and plotter
- Follow proof to ensure completeness and quality standards are maintained prior to installation
*Direction and training will be provided as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- Able to measure with a ruler and tape measure comfortably
- Proficient with Adobe Suite, especially Illustrator
- Strong sense of craftsmanship and steady hand for table work (cutting with an Exacto knife, etc.)
- Demonstrate time management and completing multiple projects under critical deadlines
- Demonstrate ability or growing competence in all aspects of skills
- Keep a clean work area and adhere to shop organization
- Have professional communications with management, co-workers, customers, and vendors
- Manage multiple projects at one time
- Maintain perfect attendance and punctuality, communicating promptly if the schedule cannot be met
- Record hours worked with accuracy
- Ability to properly measure and layout graphics for the installers
- Ability to do simple math and apply it to creative problem solving
- Able to lift 50 or more pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Keep a positive attitude and contribute as a team player
