Job Summary
Yard Driver/Warehouse employee is responsible for moving Trailers between receiving and shipping docks. Key activities include, supporting all receiving activities including movement of trailers, proper loading and unloading of materials, warehousing of materials, delivering materials to production areas to maintain production goals in a safe manner. Requires a CDL Class A License.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work as a team with Warehouse and Operations personnel to meet production requirements and goals.
- As a yard driver, responsible for accurate and timely movement of trailers, organize schedule to [SB1] maximize productivity, meet schedules, and complete paperwork in a timely manner.
- Perform daily safety check on vehicle, report maintenance issues to Plant Manager and obey all state and federal laws.
- Safe, accurate, and careful handling of materials
- Ensure accurate quantities when loading, unloading, and packaging materials.
- Take care with products to minimize damage.
- Work safely and responsibly.
- Stage materials accurately prior to loading.
- Keep stocking locations clean and free of hazards.
- Maintenance and cleaning of warehouse and yard.
- Strong customer service experience with employees and customers.
- Position requires regular and reliable attendance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
- Must possess a current, CDL/DOT certified (Class A) valid driver’s license, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and two years continuous driving [SB4] experience and DOT medical card.
- At least 1-2 years of warehouse and/or truck driving experience.
- Experience operating a tractor/trailer (truck) combination required.
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations.
- Knowledge of warehouse work instructions, safety, and housekeeping procedures preferred.
- Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
- Ability to follow directions with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to arrive at work on time and work a full day.
- Routinely be asked to lift, push, or pull material weighing up to 150 pounds.
- Ability to sit, bend, and stoop for extended periods or for duration of shift (8-12 hour shifts).
- Ability to service customers in a respectful manner.
- Maintain a strong tolerance for working in fast-paced and/or stressful situations, while solving problems.
