DESCRIPTION: The School Psychologist’s primary role is as a diagnostician on the special
education evaluation team. Additionally, this individual works with schools at all levels within
district to provide input for interventions, both school-wide as well as student specific.
Participation with functional behavior assessments and behavior planning is also included in this
role.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to meet the requirements for School Psychologist as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.
  • Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled workday with reliable job attendance.
  • Knowledge required to have a physical presence at the designated job site of current criterion referenced and curriculum-based assessments and scales used to evaluate students.
  • Ability to practice in accordance with the National Association of School Psychologist’s
    Principles for Professional Ethics, and Professional Conduct Manual.

  • Ability to lead and organize teams through the evaluation process. 
  • Ability to prioritize through planning and organizing to ensure strict compliance deadlines while maintaining the ability to be flexible based on individual student and situational needs.
  • Demonstrate independent work habits while maintaining consistent communication with school staff and Supervisors.
  • Student-focused mindset with goals to increase student achievement.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior supports FBAs and BIPs.
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tier Systems of Support.

DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with staff in planning educational intervention, curriculum, behavior management, and teaching strategies.
  • Provide psychological evaluation for pupils referred as candidates for special education programs and provide comprehensive and accurate reports to appropriate educational authority.
  • Complete systematic direct observation of students as required.
  • Administer tests, including intelligence, achievement, adaptive behavior, perceptual-motor, etc.
  • Interpret and analyze psychological data for professionals, parents, students, and other appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provide own transportation between assigned buildings and transport psychological assessment materials to required locations.
  • Collaborate in program planning and evaluation services for student-focused decision-making purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned by Parchment School District Administration.

 

RATE OF PAY:  Per the Master Agreement

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; stand; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripheral vision.

 

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. Employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
