S ummary of Program and Position :
Parents And Children Together operates three confidential domestic violence shelters - Ohia Domestic Violence Shelter, Lehua Transition House, and Hale Ola - which offer healing environments for families and individuals fleeing dangerous situations.
The Shelter Therapist is responsible for providing advocacy, crisis counseling, case management and individual and group therapeutic support services for domestic violence survivors and their children. Short-term shelter based interventions are provided at Ohia Shelter while long term therapeutic support services are provided at Lehua Transition House. Crisis services are provided at both locations. This position is responsible for responding to crisis call-out situations after normal business hours, and on weekends and holidays, as required. This position is under the direct supervision of the Shelter & Visitation (SVS) Program Director and coordinates with internal and external service partners as needed.
Work Hours : 40 hours during normal weekdays as assigned. Must be available for after hours for emergencies on weekends and holidays for crisis call out.
What you will be doing :
1. Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
2. Screens and provides intake for victims of domestic violence from community, partner, and self- referrals. Plans, conducts and completes intake / assessments, safety planning, therapeutic support,case management and crisis counseling services in accordance with agency and program procedures.
3. Plans and facilitates a variety of domestic violence interventions including group counseling, individual counseling, crisis intervention and / or advocacy, and referrals. Attends to the safety of survivors and children, as designated.
4. As a part of the shelter staff team, provides case consultation to staff regarding issues related to intimate partner abuse with co-occurring substance abuse, maternal depression and other mental health issues.
5. Coordinates service activities as needed between Parents And Children Together departments and partner agencies on behalf of the survivor.
6. Assures timely maintenance of accurate record keeping, data input, data collection and confidential management of client information.
7. Works collaboratively with other staff, community members, clients, and client collaterals to address issues related to client services and program activities. Responds to requests for information from partners, clients, collaterals and community members.
8. Supports the program's quality activities as well as the agency's Performance and Quality Improvement Program.
Minimum Qualifications :
1. Master's Degree in a social services field is required.
2. At least one year relevant experience in the field of domestic violence.
3. At least one year relevant experience providing direct client service within a trauma-informed care arena.
4. At least one year relevant experience working with persons in crisis.
Other :
1. Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license and daily access to an automobile.
2. Possesses and maintains proof of no fault insurance.
3. Is able to obtain a criminal history check upon initial hire, one year later; every other year thereafter.
4. Is able to obtain an acceptable CPS child abuse registry check upon hire and one year later; every other year thereafter.
