Job Title: Visitation Monitor
Location/Work Status: Honolulu, Hawaii
Job Type: On Call (less than 19 hours / week), Non-Exempt
Compensation: $18.87 / hour
Summary of Program and Position:
Oahu Family Visitation Center (Oahu FVC) provides a safe, neutral and nurturing environment where visitations and exchanges occur between children and non-custodial parents. Oahu FVC helps children and parents who are experiencing difficulties in divorce, separation or family violence.
The Visitation Monitor I will provide and monitor visitations to families identified and/or referred by the Judiciary, attorneys, mediation programs or themselves as needing such services related to family violence and child development. This position communicates with family members, other staff members, Program Management, and service providers. In addition, the position performs a wide variety of safety measures, office and clerical duties
Essential Duties:
Provides family visitation services to all families referred to the program, observes family dynamics and behaviors, provides interventions and recommendations as needed. Responsible for the supervision and monitoring of children and parents during visitation.
- Ensures a positive environment for family members and the FVC staff, including welcoming all children and parents and checking in participant clients and items to be used during visitation to ensure only allowed items are permitted in the visitation, and ensuring clients are in appropriate spaces within the Center.
- Provides safety for family members and the Family Visitation Center staff as scheduled, including monitoring of the parking lot, monitoring the location of family members in the center, and intervening in potential safety threats as required. Minimizes potential for unsafe visitation environment through ushering of clients to other locations or other de-escalation means as needed.
- Responsible for the supervision and monitoring of children and parents before, during, and after visitation.
- Accurately completes all necessary forms, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion. Maintains appropriate documentation including records of families coming to and from the Center, and assessment and observation forms. Attends court hearings as required by subpoena.
- Answers the telephone and performs general office and clerical duties as assigned.
- Participates in all team and staff meetings, conferences, trainings, and workshops as arranged by the Program Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent, with (1) one-year experience in direct services to children and high-risk families, required.
Other:
- Can obtain an acceptable criminal background check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
- Can obtain an acceptable CWS background check. upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
- Can obtain an acceptable National Sex Offender Registry Check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, counseling, or other related field, preferred.
Experience involving interaction with child abuse and neglect or domestic violence and nonviolent de-escalation techniques preferred.
