How you’ll contribute
This employee will protect the life and property of all persons on hospital premises and patrol the hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. This employee secures, unlocks, and protects hospital buildings. This employee responds to security needs of hospital personnel. This employee performs other duties as assigned by their superiors. Other duties that this employee performs are also as a courier on the weekends secondary to the courier position being a Monday through Friday position. Employee position is an eight hour per day shift and the position does not require strict patrolling using a vehicle. The employee may walk and patrol the premises. The employee may also assist in lifting pt’s from the floor occasionally as needed. Employee will have to drive the hospital’s patient transport van when needed. The employee is not allowed to touch patients unless there is medical personnel present. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
License / Certifications:
Level II Security Officer Certification as defined by the Texas Department of Public Safety within 30 days of hire required. (Applicants convicted of a felony or Class A misdemeanor cannot be considered for a license for 20 years. Applicants convicted of a Class B misdemeanor can apply for consideration after 5 years.)
Handle with Care Certification required within 90 days of hire.
Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire.
Basic Certificate from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) preferred.
Advanced Certificate from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Knowledge of investigative procedures, de-escalation, hospital security, infant abduction and protection mechanisms.
