Jail Nurse (RN) (Ascension Parish Jail) –
Labor Grade 122 / Pay Range: $68,399.77 - $96,421.97
SUMMARY
The Jail Nurse (RN) works under the direct supervision of the Nursing Supervisor. The Jail Nurse (RN) is responsible for administering health programs and providing professional nursing care to groups of patients as directed by a physician.
MAJOR DUTIES
· Correctional Nurses must be prepared to address a wide range of health issues from acute injuries to chronic illnesses and mental health conditions
· Responsible for treating patients as directed by the physician which may include conducting blood and urine tests
· Maintains complete medical records
· Administers daily medication
· Assessing inmate health problems and needs
· Directs treatment of patients by Licensed Practical Nurses
· Responsible for tasks associated with assessment and evaluation including developing plans to meet needs, and providing nursing services; plan for, and provide needed health and other related services
· Performs routine follow up evaluations and care for chronic conditions, adjusting treatment plans in consultation with healthcare providers as necessary
· Responds to medical emergencies within the facility, provides first aid, CPR, and other medical interventions as needed
· Any other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education and Experience: completion of an accredited registered nursing program and (4) years of related experience is required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS – CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
· The incumbent is subject to pre-employment physical and drug screens with random drug testing thereafter.
· The incumbent is required to have a current, and the ability to maintain, licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana.
