Maintenance Technician II (EA Drainage) – Labor Grade 108 / Pay Range: $17.57 - $24.78
SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician II works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor I or II. The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing manual and semi-skilled work for general maintenance of parish facilities and special projects including public works projects. The work may be physically demanding in nature and sometimes involves the use of light mechanical equipment. This position differs from the Maintenance Technician I in the ability to operate a wider range of equipment and is more experienced.
MAJOR DUTIES
· Operate all pieces of light mechanical equipment that Maintenance Technician I’s operate. May also operate back hoes, boom mowers, spray rigs, and all parish mowing equipment
· May perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as checking tires, gas, oil, and other lubricants; washing and cleaning; and ensuring that equipment is in proper working condition
· May perform various maintenance activities in and around parish facilities on parish grounds including cleaning grounds, picking up trash, cutting grass, weed eating, trimming trees, pressure washing, painting, and making minor repairs of fences, tables, benches, sidewalks, etc.
· May perform tasks related to drainage and ditch maintenance including cutting and installing pipe, digging and clearing ditches, and clearing storm debris
· May perform tasks related to road maintenance and repair including setting up barricades, lights or flares at job sites; conducting traffic through job sites; patching asphalt, concrete, and gravel roads; loading and unloading trucks; spreading dirt and gravel; leveling earth to fine specification grades; and clearing roads of trash or debris
· May perform elevation/grade checks and measurements on public works projects
· In emergency situations, may be required to work at various locations, including, but not limited to, the parish owned pumping stations, sand bagging locations, parish roads and other locations as assigned
· Any other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and (2) years related experience is required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS – CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
· The incumbent is required to have a current, and the ability to maintain, Louisiana state driver’s license.
· The incumbent is subject to pre-employment physical and drug test with random drug testing thereafter.
