What are the responsibilities and job description for the Co-occurring Float Counselor (LADC or ADC-T) position at Park Avenue Center?

PAC is seeking a PT Float Counselor to work in a positive work environment with a team of supportive professionals. Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Float Counselor serves as a primary resource for the clinical team across all programs at Park Avenue Center. Other caseload, lecture, or group coverage may also be required.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitate primary groups, lectures, experiential groups, and educational groups.
- Support Primary Counselors by assisting with paperwork.
- Cover caseloads or perform intakes as requested.
- Maintain all needed correspondence with assessors, child protection workers, probation officers, sober houses, managed care organizations, etc.
- Continue to upgrade skills via training and supervision.
- Maintain professional relationship with clients while following a strict code of ethics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated competence in screening for and working with clients with co-occurring disorders. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
- Knowledge of MN Statute Chapter 245G and licensing and its application to the department and company’s policy and procedures
- Professional and ethical interactions and boundaries with staff and clients, while following a strict code of ethics
- Ability to work, plan, organize, and evaluate work in alignment with company values, goals, policies and procedures
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Capacity to work both independently and cooperatively with two related, but separate teams
Required qualifications:
- Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or be able to obtain an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Temporary permit (ADC-T)
- Must obtain and maintain required continuing education units and training
- Must be 18 years of age or older

Environment/Work Setting:
The Float Counselor works in a substance abuse co-occurring disorders treatment facility with clients who may have chemical dependency, mental health diagnoses, and/or emotional instability.
Job Type: Part-time, Monday - Friday days (8:30am-5:00pm) with up to 29 hours available.
