Position Overview
The Club Controller is the foundation of Park City Club’s financial controls, fiscal health and HR recordkeeping. This vital position is relied upon by the General Manager, senior management team and Governing Board of Directors to ensure the Club has proper administrative and reporting procedures, people and systems to effectively grow the organization while maintaining financial strength and operational efficiency.
Accurate record-keeping is fundamental to the Controller’s role. Timely and thoughtful analysis of financial results is crucial for impacting both short, and long-term, strategic decision-making. The successful Controller will be an energetic, forward-thinking individual with high ethical standards. Honesty, discretion and professionalism are paramount, along with a thorough understanding of finance, legal, insurance, banking and compliance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including generally accepted accounting principles, and human resources/payroll procedures.
The Controller develops and manages all financial aspects of the Club. Responsibilities include optimizing traditional financial planning and analysis, auditing, compliance, treasury, capital project accounting, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
The Controller has primary day-to-day responsibilities for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all finance-related activities of the Club.
· Works directly with the Governing Board in allocation of financial resource, taxes and cash flow.
· Controller works with the General Manager and senior management team on operational and strategic issues; provides recommendations based on financial analysis, revenue/expense analysis, projections and Member data.
· Responsible for overseeing that new hires are entered into HR and payroll systems, that onboarding and termination procedures are properly documented, filed, and Automated Data Processing (ADP) software is accurately maintained and current.
· Performs basic accounting procedures, e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments and inventory control.
· Ensures that financial systems are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and monitors use of all funds.
· Oversees the budgeting and planning of cash flow in alignment with the General Manager and the Governing Board.
· Collaborates and implements the approved budgets; monitors progress and presents operational issues impacting the financial health of the Club.
· Assists the Club’s CPA firm with the preparation of the Club’s annual state and federal income tax returns.
· Reports monthly on the financial condition of the club, prepares monthly Board Meeting agenda and prepares monthly meeting minutes, including the Annual Shareholder Meeting presentations.
· Maintains thorough knowledge of the Club’s bylaws, rules and regulations, organization structure and membership procedures.
· Formulates accounting procedures to facilitate Club operations, including cash controls of the operating and capital funds, bank deposits, petty cash and payroll.
· Oversees Member billing and collections of Accounts Receivable in timely fashion.
· Oversees data entry and preparation of all financial reporting materials and monitors monthly operating results as compared to budget, advises management about variances, and works closely with the General Manager and senior management team to keep costs under control.
· Provides department managers with guidance on the financial implications of business activities.
· Manages all Accounts Payables with monthly reconciliation of vendor statements.
· Manages all audit activities, including implementing and monitoring sufficient internal controls and segregation of duties to maintain the integrity of the Club’s assets.
· Reviews all HR-related procedures, processes and administration, recommends improvements to current policies and procedures.
· Supervises payroll preparation, disbursements, bank reconciliations, distributions and oversees all wage and hour compliance.
· Evaluates and manages all benefits programs, ensuring the Club is providing competitive packages for employees while meeting budgetary demands. Serves as Administrator for the employee 401(k) program and on the Club’s 401(k) oversight committee.
· Evaluates and manages all insurance-related activities for the Club which include General Liability and Workers’ Compensation, Health, Dental, Vision and Disability.
· Oversees the renewal of the Club’s liquor license and is knowledgeable with the rules and regulations of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Candidate Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the Accounts Receivable clerk, ensuring compliance with Club policies and applicable laws.
Educational RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in accounting from a four-year college or university preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience including minimum of five years as head of Accounting/Controller
- Experience in a private club or hospitality accounting preferred
- Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong computer aptitude, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with club accounting software and financial reporting tools such as Club Essential, Great Plains and ADP
- Superior analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
