Accepting applications for our SEASONAL LABORER position to start April 28th.
SEASONAL POSITION - April 28th - September 25th$22.10/hour
Under the direction of the Fire Prevention Bureau; this seasonal, FLSA non-exempt position conducts fuel mitigation services in addition to possible wildland firefighting activities. Primarily performs duties related to vegetative fire fuel reduction. These duties include, but are not limited to, thinning and reducing fire fuels, chipping wood slash piles, hauling and delivery of wood chips, and possible wildland firefighter activities. May staff a wildland engine during red flag days.
Duties may include rigorous fieldwork requiring above average physical performance, endurance and superior conditioning.Perform duties related to vegetative fire fuel reduction.
Operates District vehicle while towing wood-chipping machinery.
Operates wood-chipping machinery.
Occasionally may operate chainsaw.
Facilitates maintenance of equipment.
Contacts customers regarding fuel reduction requests.
Maintains a variety of data and records regarding daily activities.
Other duties, as assigned.High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Twenty-One (21) years of age or older.
Must obtain Red Card Certification. (Class offered by PCFD after Hire)
Effective oral and written communications skills.
Must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the general public.
Skill in the operation of the tools and equipment listed.
- This is a seasonal position, generally requiring up to 40 hours per week. Work hours are typically 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Other hours may be available during Red Flag Days.
- This job runs from May 1st to September 25th. There is a $1/hour bonus paid on every hour worked if employee stays to the end of the season.
