Park Construction Company is seeking a qualified On-Site Safety Manager to oversee safety aspects of a construction project in the Fargo area. This position will reside in Fargo and report directly to the Corporate Safety Director. The primary focus of the Project Safety Manager is to ensure compliance with safety regulations, prevent injuries, and mitigate hazards across all project phases. This includes conducting site inspections, providing safety training, investigating incidents, and fostering a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Development and Implementation
- Develop and manage a comprehensive project safety plan in alignment with USACE safety standards (EM 385-1-1).
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety concerns.
- Train and monitor construction crews, address safety concerns, and enforce safety, DOT, USACE, and risk management policies.
Site Inspections and Monitoring
- Perform regular safety inspections of work areas to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and enforce safety protocols.
- Conduct near-miss reporting and analysis to mitigate risks.
Incident Investigation and Reporting
- Investigate all work-related incidents and accidents.
- Assist with injury management and claims processes.
- Collaborate with field personnel during incident and near-miss investigations.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate safety and health data, sharing lessons learned with project teams.
- Identify root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Communication and Coordination
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to address safety concerns.
- Communicate safety policies and procedures to project personnel through regular meetings, briefings, and signage.
- Conduct weekly Toolbox Talks and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) assessments.
- Provide expert guidance on complex safety issues to project teams.
Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and USACE safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and incident logs.
- Stay updated on evolving safety standards and industry best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation preferred.
Experience and Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of USACE safety regulations (EM 385-1-1).
- Experience in construction safety management, especially within the civil engineering industry.
- Proficiency in delivering safety training and developing safety programs.
