Summary: The Facilities Maintenance I – Ice Technician is responsible for the care of the ice and facility during the shift as well as assisting with weekly ice maintenance and minor equipment repairs. This position may work evenings and weekends as operations dictate.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Operate the Zamboni at Centennial Ice Arena to resurface ice.
• Make minor repairs to the Zamboni and other facility equipment.
• Maintain ice schedule.
• Maintain general cleanliness of facility including cleaning and vacuuming floors.
• Complete special projects, including painting and other minor aesthetic and repair work.
• Perform weekly maintenance with Facility Engineers.
• Secure the building in opening or closing hours.
• Know and follow emergency action procedures.
• Monitor use of facilities in all areas.
• Supervise events and programs in facility as necessary.
• Enforce rules of facility.
• Field and answer questions to the best of your ability.
•Complete monthly building inspections at facilities.
•Maintain outdoor clay courts as necessary.
•Perform general maintenance at Hidden Creek Aquapark as necessary.
•Perform other Park District related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: One to two years' experience in facility maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Four years of Ice Maintenance Experience preferred. USA Hockey Certified Ice Technician (CIT) Highly Desirable. Ability to learn routine tasks quickly and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Physical strength and ability to perform routine manual cleaning and maintenance tasks. Must be in good physical condition.
Schedule: Schedule varies, but will include Nights, Weekends and Holidays as operations dictate
Classification: Full-Time Non-Exempt
Wage Range: $23.75-27.29 per hour

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job may be exposed to weather conditions with some slightly disagreeable features. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
