JOB TITLE: Fitness Coordinator (Part-Time, IMRF) 
DEPARTMENT: Recreation 
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Facility & Operations Supervisor 
FLSA: Non-Exempt 

Salary: $22-$25 DOQ 

GENERAL PURPOSE: 

The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for providing excellent customer service and managing daily operations for La Grange Fitness. The position will process paperwork for memberships, check members in at the fitness center, assist in the planning, implementation, and oversight of fitness classes, programs, and personal training under the direction of the Facility & Operations Supervisor. 

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

Program Operations: 

• Oversee the fitness center to ensure the safety of participants and the security of equipment. 

• Assist with fitness operations such as: checking patrons in for the fitness center, answering phones, processing memberships, communicating with staff and patrons, assisting instructors/staff, assisting with filing of park district paperwork, and various other projects.   

• Supervise the Fitness Attendants by monitoring fitness staff performance, coaching staff and enhancing customer service.  

• Manage monthly staff schedule, including covering shifts based on available hours or flexing schedules as needed.  

• Organize and maintain all La Grange Fitness paperwork, ensuring everything is processed accurately and in a timely manner.  

• Assist in the development and implementation of member retention & acquisition programs, special events, initiatives, and services.  

• Inspect fitness equipment and audio systems daily, ensuring they are functional and addressing any maintenance or safety issues by notifying the Facility & Operations Supervisor or contacting service for repairs. 

• Handle member general inquiries and requests for cancellations, hold requests, and address billing questions. 

• Assist with the monthly suspension list by contacting members for payment collection. 

• Provide general support for the group fitness schedule, as needed. 

• Monitor membership numbers, provide tours, and follow up with prospective members. 

• Assist participants with the safe use of all fitness equipment. 

• Communicate any safety, maintenance, custodial, or security issues to Facility & Operations Supervisor. 

• Attend all staff meetings, safety trainings and workshops. 

 Customer Service: 

• Foster positive relationships with program participants, addressing any concerns or feedback promptly. 

• Evaluate the effectiveness of fitness programs from a customer perspective and make improvements as needed. 

• Ensure high-quality internal and external customer service standards. 

   
  Other Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Assist with special events or community activities as assigned. 

• Participate in committees, focus groups, and relevant professional development opportunities as assigned. 

• Adhere to Park District safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe work environment. 

• Resolve customer and staff concerns or emergencies as they arise. 

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Fitness, or a closely related field preferred. 

• Experience: At least two years of experience working in a fitness center, preferred.  

• Skills: 

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and data entry. 

• Experience with RecTrac or similar program management software, preferred. 

• Other Requirements: 

• Valid Driver’s License. 

• First Aid/CPR/AED certified or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. 

• Certified Personal Trainer Certification or Group Fitness Certification a plus.  

Salary : $22 - $25
