POSITION TITLE: Director of Campus Safety and Activities
F.L.S.A.: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Missouri Administrator Certificate (or ability to obtain)
- 3 years of school administrator experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff, parents, and patrons
- Ability to exercise sound judgement on sensitive issues
- May be required to work some evenings/weekends
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Quality and Student Services
MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing, implementing and managing programs designed to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, parents, and visitors. Responsible for coordinating a comprehensive school safety program, which includes proactively working with law enforcement agencies and district personnel, scheduling work assignments within established timeframes and standards, and addressing emergency situations as outlined in district and building safety plans. This role also serves as the District Athletics/Activities Director, working with middle and high school athletic directors to ensure compliance with the Missouri State High School Activities Association and other governing entities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates a comprehensive school safety and security plan consisting of policy development, program implementation and evaluation, physical environment monitoring, prevention and intervention programs and services, and emergency crisis management planning.
- Serves as a liaison with local law enforcement agencies to monitor the daily operation of the School Resource Officer (SRO) program and other law enforcement issues on the school campuses.
- Maintains the district’s emergency preparedness plans and emergency drill schedule to ensure compliance or to exceed regulatory requirements.
- Communicates with administrators, personnel and outside organizations and agencies for the purpose of coordinating activities, resolving issues and conflicts and exchanging information.
- Compiles data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components.
- Completes inspections and systematic audits of facilities through a developed safety and security check.
- Coordinates and evaluates the purchase of safety and security equipment, supplies and services.
- Facilitates meetings or serves on teams for the purpose of identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a district representative.
- Performs personnel administrative functions for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring department/program outcomes are achieved.
- Provides training for campus supervisors and crossing guards.
- Supervises the district security center personnel.
- Participates in professional organizations and committees related to school safety and athletics/activities.
- Serves as the back-up District Hearing Officer, when needed.
- Facilitates regular meetings with athletic directors to ensure program compliance with district and MSHSAA standards.
- Provides professional development opportunities for coaches and sponsors to ensure staff are well-equipped to meet student needs.
- Implements policies and procedures for activities/athletics to ensure consistency, safety, and equity.
- Oversees budget allocation for all district activities, ensuring efficient use of funds.
- Generate reports for the district on student activities, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
