Lead Behavioral Technician
The Duties and Responsibilities reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all related work assignments that may be inherent to the job.
- Master all skills and competencies of a Behavior Tech.
- Provide direct supervision, support and feedback regarding performance to all Behavior Techs.
- Collaborate with the Program Director/Behavioral Tech Supervisor on the performance evaluation of Behavior Techs and recommend or participate in the positive direction process as appropriate.
- Assist the Program Director/Behavioral Tech Supervisor in maintaining the appropriate staffing ratio through staff scheduling.
- Assist in the onboarding process of new employees through training and modeling.
- Assist the Program Director/Behavioral Tech Supervisor in all areas of the support plan process.
- Participate and assist in the assessment and development of programs to enhance and increase each person’s independence and improve overall behavioral status.
- Provide guidance during behavioral crises, ensuring that procedures are implemented according to approved behavior plans and crisis management protocols.
- Manage individual serve properties/possessions by accurately recording and storing.
- Ensure all required reports/documents are completed on time and complete documentation audits to ensure compliance in the areas of safety, behavior, central files, and daily communication logs.
- Assist in maintaining adequate accessible food and supplies for the residential units.
- Willingness to work variable hours (potential for days and weekends)
- Provide Handle with Care Training for all staff as scheduled by Human Resources.
- Delegate details as appropriate.
- Manage case records to assure that proper documentation meets standard of practice requirements.
- Ensure the consistency of clinical charting standards and requirements in the CSU/CCSU.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

- High School graduate or G.E.D. Certificate.
- 2 years of experience in mental health and lead or supervisory experience.
- Maturity and sensitivity to the special needs of the mentally ill population.
- Ability to assess needs of consumers.
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction supervision.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees.
- The individual must have an earned a Bachelor’s degree in a mental health or related field or a High School diploma with related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Individual must have supervisory experience and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with clients, in staffing meetings, and with supervisors.
- COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have Intermediate to advanced experience in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), the use of personal computers, and standard office productivity software
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid Class E Drivers’ License for positions that require driving personal or Agency vehicle on Agency business.
- Must maintain a minimum Bodily Injury & Property Liability insurance limit of at least $50,000 for positions that require driving personal own vehicle (POV) on Agency business. (Proof Required)
- PPBH is a 24/7 Agency. All employees must be available as needed when required.
