Laundry Worker

Operate and monitor washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery, including adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps. Identify stained or damaged items and determine the status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard. Inspect the cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, or dry-cleaning machines and place them in clean linen carts. Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabrics contained in the load. Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain traps after each load. Fold cleaned articles into designated sizes by hand. Maintained accurate records of items laundered.

Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager; complete safety training and certifications. Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identity, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects). Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Safety and Security

• Follow Hazardous Material Management program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood-borne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
• Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures to avoid injury.
• Report the work-related accident or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to the manager/ supervisor.
• Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
• Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Follow policies and procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
• Complete appropriate safety training and certification to perform work tasks.

Laundry/Dry Cleaning Processing & Distribution

• Identify stained or damaged items and determine the status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard Washing/Dry Cleaning.
• Inspect the cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, or dry-cleaning machines and place in clean linen carts.
• Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabrics contained in load.
• Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain trap after each load.
• Remove articles from dryer when cycle is complete.
• Fold cleaned articles into designated size, either by hand or using folding machine.
• Operate washing and dry-cleaning machinery in accordance with company standards.

Laundry Quality Control

• Report faulty equipment, maintenance needs, and safety hazards to managing/ Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all cleaning supplies are in stock and indicate any shortages to the general manager
• Inspect all linens to identify stains and remove stains with appropriate cleaning products and techniques
• Place all laundry in the washer and add the cleaning agents as directed
• Dry clothing and linens after each wash cycle according to the manufacturer's instructions
• Verify that all laundry equipment is in good working order and alert the facilities manager of any repair needs
• Knows how to wash & fold laundry

Qualifications:

• Must have graduated high school or received an equivalent certification
• Possesses a strong work ethic with exemplary organizational, time management, and communication skills
• One or more years as a laundry attendant, housekeeper, or a similar role is strongly desired
• Good understanding of commercial cleaning techniques and products
• This position requires the ability to lift 20 or more pounds regularly
