Summary: Responsible for planning and implementing daily classroom lesson plans and ensuring the health and safety of children in the classroom in partnership with the co-teacher by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Coordinates developmentally-appropriate curriculum schedules and maintains requirements including licensing and NAC Accreditation with the faith based component.*

2. Monitors and observes the daily operation of the classroom for safety, positive interaction, and productive educational activity.*

3. Oversees and facilitates the general safety of the classroom environment and its activities to include outside play.*

4. Promotes and fosters each child’s positive self-esteem and individual development toward his/her fullest potential in the areas of physical, social, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive growth.*

5. Monitors talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies, or problems of each individual child, documents issues/concerns as needed in log book, and notifies management.*

6. Addresses, monitors, and documents issues, concerns, and problems of each individual child and discusses with co-teacher/management.*

7. Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with the parents of every child, including thorough communication about the program and each child’s progress.*

8. Encourages parent interest and involvement in the program and seeks a partnership with parents.*

9. Maintains confidentiality.*

10. Completes children’s evaluations as required and maintains accurate knowledge of documentation in children’s files.*

11. Meets with parents during the year as required.*

12. Orientates new employees using the classroom and observation checklists to review policies, procedures, and organization-wide rules and regulations.*

13. Adheres to all established policies, procedures, and code of ethics.*

14. Accommodates classroom visits for incoming families.*

15. Creates, in a timely manner, classroom monthly newsletter, calendar, and curriculum component.*

16. Participates in required training programs, conferences, courses, or other aspects of professional growth.*

17. Attends staff meetings as required.*

18. Performs all teacher responsibilities.*

19. Reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate party for follow-through.*

20. Plans and prepares lesson plans and submits in accordance with administrative guidelines to curriculum coordinator a weekly basis.*

21. Oversees and facilitates the general safety of the classroom environment and activities.*

22. Interacts with children through instructional methods to include play, music, arts and crafts, literacy, writing, technology, and physical activities.*

23. Assists children when necessary to enhance learning skills and complete projects.*

24. Monitors the talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies, or problems of each individual child, and documents evaluations on a weekly basis.*

25. Prepares thorough evaluations for each child two times per year or as needed.*

26. Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all children, parents/guardians, and fellow staff.*

27. Assists children with general hygiene practices including bathroom and cleanliness needs.*

28. Shares pertinent information, suggestions, or ideas with management and co-workers on a regular basis.*

29. Supervises daily activities of co-teacher when necessary.*

30. Documents daily activities of children on appropriate paperwork.*

31. Completes appropriate paperwork to place orders for supplies in a timely manner.*

32. Attends in-service trainings, conferences, staff meetings, and parent/guardian meetings as required.*

33. Performs daily general cleaning duties.*

34. Maintains equipment and materials in a safe and efficient manner.*

35. Maintains classroom and storage areas in a neat and orderly manner.*

36. Teaches according to center methods.*

37. Offers appropriate support to students through a positive attitude.*

38. Alerts management to any programming concerns and discusses suggested program changes.*

39. Maintains low noise levels.*

40. Maintains student portfolios as activities are completed.*

41. Performs any other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and/or Apple Safari.

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A. / A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and one to two years of experience in early childhood education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

· Meets NAC Accreditation requirements and licensing and abides by guidelines set forth by Wisconsin Department of Children and Families - Division of Early Care Education

· Maintains 25 hours of continuing education credits on an annual basis

· CPR training

· First Aid training

· AED training

· Shaken Baby Syndrome training
