Tellers are the lifeline for our members. Knowledgeable, organized and accurate, they have the ability to manage and excel at member experience.
Tellers engage with members to gather information, understand their needs and which of our products or services fulfill those needs, and offer quality service with a smile.
What you"ll do
A teller establishes the first impression a member or guest has of the organization. The teller's responsibilities include welcoming members and providing routine information concerning services.
They will receive and process a variety of member financial transactions. Tellers also refer members to the other departments for specific information and service.
The ability to assist members promptly, professionally, and accurately with their financial transactions as well as the ability to follow and accurately convey protocol are key to success in this position.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells money orders and travelers checks to members;
transfers amounts from member accounts as directed.
- Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
- Post transactions to member accounts and maintain member records.
- Actively cross-sells credit union services.
- Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks including typing, filing, computer input and answering the telephone.
- Ensures appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements :
1. Provide friendly, professional, personal service to all members and associates.
2. Balance your drawer daily, in accordance with the over short policy.
3. Accurately post transactions with minimal errors.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.
5. Proactively seek opportunities to identify appropriate products and services for the betterment of the member.
6. Maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.
7. Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Experience : No experience required. Previous customer service and / or cash handling experience preferred.
- Education : A high school education or GED.
- Interpersonal Skills : A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
Work involves extensive personal contact with others and / or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and / or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills : Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch. Must be good with detail to deal with numbers and names.
Physical Requirements :
- Average hearing : Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
- Finger dexterity : Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as keyboarding, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
- Repetitive motion : Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.
- Average visual abilities : Average, ordinary, vision necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
- Physical strength : Sedentary work; standing most of the time. Exerts up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally.
Work Environment :
Typical office conditions apply. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions apply. Occasional travel required.
Hours
For this part-time role, we are looking for someone available Monday-Friday 10-3pm with occasional Thursdays starting at 8 : 30 for meetings.
