We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team with expertise, vision, and a commitment to excellence. This role is responsible for strategic leadership, process improvements, compliance, employee development, and exceptional resident care within our skilled nursing and rehabilitation community.

Leadership and Operations

  • Provide strategic leadership to the nursing team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement short and longterm goals for the nursing department to enhance the quality of care and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations while maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence.
  • Oversee and manage budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure optimal care delivery.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between nursing staff, physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

Clinical Excellence and Compliance

  • Establish, review, and update policies and procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor patient care quality, infection control, and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting standards.
  • Conduct utilization reviews, evaluating medical records, patient care plans, and working closely with families on care decisions.
  • Ensure accurate and uptodate electronic medical records (EMR), quality dashboards, and performance metrics.

Team Development and Staffing

  • Lead recruitment, retention, and performance evaluation efforts to build and maintain a strong, dedicated nursing team.
  • Oversee staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and continuity of care.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.

Resident and Family Engagement

  • Serve as an advocate for residents, ensuring compassionate, personcentered care that aligns with their needs and preferences.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to resident or family concerns, fostering trust and positive relationships.
  • Oversee administration of vaccines, flu shots, and other necessary annual medical interventions for both residents and staff.

Emergency and On-Call Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary oncall contact for nursingrelated emergencies, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ensure rapid and effective response to any critical care situations or staffing emergencies.

Qualifications And Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Current and active RN (Registered Nurse) license in the state of [State Name].
  • Proven leadership experience in a Director of Nursing (DON) or similar managerial role within a skilled nursing, longterm care, or rehabilitation facility.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing regulations, quality standards, and healthcare compliance.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to sit at a desk for up to four hours per day.
  • Capability to bend, stretch, squat, and lift up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Work environment includes direct interaction with residents, staff, and families in a healthcare setting.
