Strategic Pricing Manager – Huntsville,AL

As the Strategic Pricing Manager with Park/ Wiseway Supply, will be responsible for:

  • Ensure pricing decisions and initiatives are aligned with our financial objectives and our growth initiatives.
  • Implement pricing initiatives that drive sustainable, profitable growth and margin improvement
  • Utilizing our strategic pricing optimization tools and implementing industry best practices to set pricing to drive profitability and margin improvement.
  • Analyzing the sensitivity of pricing recommendations on revenue, GPM, and our share of the wallet.
  • Identifying profit leaks and taking corrective actions to improve profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pricing Strategy Development:
    • Design and implement pricing strategies that align with business objectives and maximize profitability while ensuring market competitiveness.
      • Branch/Territory pricing levels
      • Customer specific pricing levels
      • Blanket pricing – contracts
      • Rebate pricing structures
      • Protecting negotiated pricing
    • Maintain a well-constructed pricing plan to maximize both market penetration and margin dollars/return on sales.
    • Development of additional matrix pricing structures appropriate to certain situations.
    • Facilitate and manage the company’s pricing program for all product lines and acquisitions.
    • Facilitate and manage the corporate Strategic Pricing initiative with Sales Team and General Managers.
  • Pricing Optimization:
    • Implementation of pricing initiatives that drive sustainable profitable growth and margin improvement.
    • Utilize our strategic pricing optimization tools (SPARXiQ, ERP, etc) to optimize pricing for products or services, ensuring that they meet profitability targets while remaining competitive.
  • Market Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to assess industry pricing trends, customer demands, and competitor pricing models.
  • Data Analysis:
    • Analyze sales data, customer behavior, and pricing elasticity to identify trends and opportunities for price adjustments.
    • Analysis of low margin transactions to identify areas of opportunities, areas for improvement, actions as it relates to branches and/or territories.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with sales, marketing, and purchasing teams to ensure alignment on pricing strategies and to support promotional activities.
    • Work closely with purchasing on vendor price increases.
  • Operational Performance:
    • Continuously track the performance of pricing strategies, including margins, revenue growth, and customer acquisition/retention, and adjust strategies as necessary.
    • Management and maintenance of all programs in ERP.
  • Assure that program agreements are accurate and current.
  • Reconciliation of all program credits (i.e. rebates).
  • Continually look to improve upon processes and implementation of software enhancements.
  • Maintain all vendor SPA’s or any agreements that fall outside of rebate programs.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate pricing risks related to market changes, economic conditions, and competitive pressures.
    • Consult with GM’s and President on price matrix changes.
  • Reporting:
    • Create regular reports on pricing performance, market trends, and the impact of pricing strategies on sales and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pricing management, financial analysis, or a similar role, ideally in a relevant industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable strategies.
  • Proficiency in pricing tools, financial modeling, and data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex pricing strategies to cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in business systems including ERP, WMS, and data analytical programs such as PHOCAS & Strategic Pricing / SPARXiQ, and Office 365 products.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Working Requirements

  • Work Environment:
    • Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, and written communication clearly.
    • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through written communication.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, office equipment, and tools.
    • Ability to handle paperwork and perform data entry efficiently.
  • Travel:
    • May require occasional travel to other company locations, supplier meetings, or industry events, which could involve driving or flying.
  • Extended Hours:
    • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends, during peak seasons or when meeting deadlines.
