Under general supervision, to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks in the upkeep of Park University facilities; perform semi-skilled and skilled work in one or more of the building and maintenance trades; and to do other related work as may be required.Position AccountabilitiesOperate the variety of tools and equipment utilized in the performance of duties in multiple trades.Performs skilled carpentry and construction projects, plumbing, electrical, and corrective maintenance repair in the basic trades.Performs installation, maintenance and repair of wooden articles and structures such as shelving, partitions, counters, doors, windows and frames.Constructs frames, covers, and roof structures.Repair or replace door closers, panic latches and bars.Hangs, tapes and textures drywall, sheet rock and paneling.Repair furniture, desks, tables, and bookcases.Install or replace floor and ceiling tiles.Repair, replace, program, entry locks, perform specialized door repair.Using brush, roller or spray gun, apply paints, varnish, shellac, enamel, lacqueror other protective or decorative finish to a variety of surfaces. Prepare surfaces for painting. Perform Boiler feed water chemical tests, adjustments, and blowdown to meet optimum boiler life and performance.May repair or replace electrical units for dishwashers, refrigerators, garbage disposals, stoves and other kitchen equipment.Mayinstall interior and exterior wiring for new and altered facilities.Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, appliances, water supply and sewer lines, storm drains and gas lines.Repair and replace valves, fittings, ball cocks and pack faucets.Cut and thread pipe fittings.May do welding, soldering, caulking and brazing when necessary, may install or repair hot water heaters, garbage disposals and other appliances.Refinish furniturePour and form concrete.Replace window glass.Load, unload and drive maintenance vehicles and equipment.Drives service vehicle to and from work sites.May be called to work evenings and weekends on an overtime basis.Is required to participate in scheduled On-Call Maintenance rotation.Position Requirements : Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and skill may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be : Experience : Two or more years of journeyman level experience as a worker in one or more of theconstruction or building trades. Education : Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, some college or trade school technical training, and maintenance repair.Condition of Employment : Insurability by the facility's liability insurance carrier.License Requirement : Possession of a valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's License.Physical Requirements The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 75 to 100 pounds of forcefrequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps,and will involve walking, standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally beexperienced.
