The Scheduler/Central Supply role is primarily responsible for scheduling nursing staff and other elements of staff support for licensed nurses, QMA/CNAs and certified nursing assistants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and posts work schedules at least two weeks, normally four weeks in advance.
- Ensures timely Clinical staff assignments to meet needs of new admissions as well as existing residents
- Maintains schedule on a daily basis to include any staffing changes or resident status changes and communicates accordingly
- Facilitates the timely completion of paper work and data entry pertinent and necessary to fulfill job duties.
- Maintains tracking system as required for CNA and Nurse annual license renewal and communicates to the Kentucky Board of Nursing, health center nursing administration, and the human resources department.
- Maintains a current listing of employee contact numbers for call-in.
- Notifies the Director of Nursing (DON) of any staffing situations; contacts replacement personnel and modifies schedule when required.
- Keeps a pool of replacements and coordinates vacations and time-off requests.
- Coordinates time-off requests with the DON.
- Maintains records of employees who miss shifts; produces reports.
- Coordinates with DON to secure contract labor with appropriate approvals, when necessary.
- Communicates staff assignments to managers and staff
- Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in the Smartlinx computer software program and of proper documentation procedures.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Required Education for the Scheduler position: High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) Required Experience: 2 years’ related experience Preferred Experience: Long term care setting License and/or Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Qualified Medication Aide (QMA)
