Description
- Overseeing the Nurse Managers and nursing clinical support staff as assigned by the DON as oversight for the day-to-day functions of the nursing and clinical support staff.
- Assisting the DON in facilitating and managing problem solving, staffing, designing and implementing development plans/programs for LPNs and nursing support staff.
- Assisting in the practice transformation for patient centered medical home and standardizing the practice across the health center sites.
- Assist the DON who is the Infection Control Preventionist
- Assist the DON in overseeing disinfection and sterilization of patient care items when using sterilizers, instrument washers, or other cleaning devices, according to the manufacturers’ instructions
- Assist with development and implementation of proactive strategies to reduce the spread of infections
- Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures
- Assist in the assessment of healthcare personnel/environment for compliance with infection control policies
- Assist in the conduction of infection control and interdepartmental rounds
- Assist in the evaluation and review of medical/dental equipment that include cleaning, sterilization and disinfection techniques
- Assist with the performance of Infection Control Risk Assessments
- Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional
- Assist DON to ensure a clean and safe environment
- Assisting with training and supervising assigned LPN clinic staff; and, helping them develop performance goals and objectives.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested/assigned by DON
- Assisting with assuring LPN and support staff compliance with regulatory standards, OSHA, TJC, NCQA, PCMH, etc.
- Communicate policies and procedures to LPN nursing and support staff and monitors staff practices.
- Assist in evaluating the work performance of all LPN nursing and support personnel.
- Assist DON in identifying problems and communicates solution in conjunction with the DON to appropriate personnel
Qualifications
Preferred Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements
Minimum 4 years ambulatory nursing experience preferred
Diploma in Practical Nursing required.
2 years’ experience working in a patient centered medical home initiative
2 years of supervisory or administrative experience
Excellent organizational communication skills both written and verbal
Computer literacy, intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
Required Certifications and Licenses
Current Maryland Nursing License
CPR (or receipt of certification within 3 months of hire)
