Job Title: Pediatrician
Department: Medical Affairs
Responsible To: Chief of Pediatrics
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Asses the health status of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults and develop appropriate plans for health supervision and illness management. This includes: obtaining a comprehensive developmental, health, and medical history; performing physical examinations based on age and history; performing age-appropriate and condition-specific screening, laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures; assessing and diagnosing childhood illness; formulating a culturally-sensitive, family-centered plan of care recognizing the child and family are active participants; and consulting with other health care providers as necessary.
- Provide comprehensive health assessments by teaching, counseling, and advising children and their families about growth and development, health status, illnesses, management plans, and health promotion, disease and injury preventing activities, and provide anticipatory guidance.
- Promote growth and development of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
- Utilize prescriptive authority, in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations to treat illness, improve health status, and provide preventive care. This includes: prescribing medication based on a child’s clinical history, current assessment, and health care needs; prescribing medication based on current research and a thorough knowledge base in pharmacotherapeutics; providing patient education regarding intended effects, protentional side effects, and specific instructions for medication administration; and monitoring therapeutic and potential adverse effects on medications.
- Provides clinical services to Park West patients in a timely manner during times allocated for this purpose.
- Take call on weekdays, weekends, and holidays in rotation with the other providers in the practice.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient documentation (i.e. medical records).
- Read and follow the policies and procedures implemented by Park West Health System.
- Utilize current medical guidelines for management of medical problems.
- Participate in/attend all provider and pediatric operations meetings.
- Promote medical advancement and improved patient satisfaction through quality improvement project involvement when possible/appropriate.
- Maintain competency by participating in relevant continuing education programs and certification maintenance programs.
- Performs all other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education: Medical Degree from an accredited school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine and the successful completion of a post-doctoral residency program in pediatrics from an accredited institution; along with board certification/eligibility in Pediatrics, a valid unrestricted state license, and a valid unrestricted DEA certification.
Experience/Qualifications: Ambulatory care experience is highly desirable. Dedication to the provision of high-quality services to the Park West community. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding diagnostic and problem-solving abilities. Working knowledge of children epidemiology and infectious disease. Cooperative work attitude toward management, staff, patients, and providers. Demonstrate skills in cultural competence.
