Spinner Position

Job Summary: To produce quality yarn packages by addressing red lights and faults on spinning frame machines/cycling assigned set to meet the specifications of our external customer.

Essential Job Duties:

• Always practice safe operating procedures
• Ensure the operation of the specified spinning machines and all components at all time, while maintaining specified production standards
• Patrol assigned machines on a 30 minute or less cycle
  • Continuously check for yellow alarm lights at front end of machine
  • Service red lights and clean spin box on a continuous cycle, do not remove combing rolls
    • Tools needed for cleaning spin box: cleaning brush, and soft swabs for clearers. (See red light cleaning procedure below)
    • Spin box problems that are beyond the operator's control should be flagged using the proper flag card and all flag information completed on the card. On any flagged unit, silver should be removed ant tied off
  • Make sure to keep an eye on wax while cycling frames and change wax during cycles if wax has reached reached ¼ inch as needed
  • Clean any unit with excessive lint build-up around wax assembly or Corolab head
  • Keep tags off white silver guide bars

• Survey each Coromat and/or Piercers on all assigned machines to determine immediate rotor drive & scraper blade needs. Once immediate needs have been taken care of begin assigned cycle checking Coromats/Pierces every hour
  • Check seed package in each Coromat for starter tubes
  • IPC check current efficiency, production and problem units on each frame
• Creel sliver: Creel sliver as close to run –out as possible and as required. Always break silver and then creel new silver through. Place waste in designated waste hoppers
  • Spinner are not allow to split or stack cans when creeling in spinning frame. (UNLESS GIVEN PERMISSION BY MANAGEMENT). This will cause more work on the next shift and can produce poor quality yarn if not done correctly. Anyone caught performing this practice will receive disciplinary action, up to and including termination
• Clean the spin box after each creel using red light cleaning procedures
  • Open spin box to cleaning position and examine rotor. Clean out the rotor and surrounding area with spinner brush
  • Clean the combining roll housing. Do not remove the combing roll
  • Clean the navel and doff tube
  • Clean the clearer measuring head with soft swab; never use anything metal. Notify technician or shift manager of problems with clearers
  • Close the spin box and examine sliver. If heavy or light, remove one (1) yard from can before creeling
  • Press red light reset button
• Correct malfunctions on the machine. Any major malfunctions should be reported to a technician or shift manager immediately
• Always observe any piecer or doffer malfunctions. Fix minor piecer/coromat or doffer malfunctions
• Report any major malfunctions to technician and shift manager
• Maintain good housekeeping in designated area all the times. Take waste to designated area, keep floor clean, and take all damaged tubes to trash can. Take non Q1 yarn to rework area immediately
  • Keep full and empty cans aligned and free of trash and sliver waste
• Report any unsafe work practices and/or conditions to shift manager immediately
• Perform any other job duties as assigned by shift manager and/or higher management
