Position Overview:
Parker Academy, a small therapeutic school in Concord, NH, is seeking an innovative and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team for the month-long Extended School Year (ESY) program. This program is designed to provide individualized educational support for middle and high school students, many of whom have unique learning needs or require emotional support. The role is part-time, running Monday through Friday for 4 hours each day during July.
Our trauma-informed, strength-based approach emphasizes the importance of fostering quality relationships and creating an engaging, supportive learning environment. As a neurodivergent-affirming community, we make use of both our campus and nearby Winant trails for experiential learning, nature exploration, and life skills development. Our location also provides opportunities for students to engage in community service and other enriching activities in the greater Concord area.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct, individualized, and small-group instruction to help students meet their IEP goals.
Develop and implement engaging and differentiated instructional strategies tailored to the unique needs of neurodivergent students.
Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, self-confidence, and social-emotional growth.
Collaborate with staff, including paraprofessionals and specialists, to create an inclusive and effective learning environment.
Monitor and assess student progress throughout the ESY program, adjusting instruction as necessary.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, maintaining accurate records of student progress and IEP implementation.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and any concerns.
