Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in providing quality eye care to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include performing diagnostic tests, documenting patient medical histories, and providing support during ophthalmic procedures. Duties: - Perform preliminary eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, color vision tests, and depth perception tests. - Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging. - Assist with patient intake by documenting medical histories and updating electronic medical records (EMR) using Epic software. - Prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort. - Provide support during ophthalmic surgeries and procedures by sterilizing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and passing instruments to the surgeon. - Administer eye drops or medications as directed by the ophthalmologist. - Educate patients on proper eye care techniques and post-operative instructions. - Perform basic medical billing and coding tasks related to ophthalmic procedures. Experience: - Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a similar role is preferred. - Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, equipment, and terminology is required. - Familiarity with Epic EMR system is a plus. - Proficiency in medical billing and coding is highly desirable. - Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to the eyes. - Ability to accurately measure vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse. - Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
