Position Summary
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for the set up and operation of extrusion and other associated equipment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:
- Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader
Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Makes complete line set ups on jobs from charts and process specifications.
2. Operates line, maintaining proper speeds, adjustments, etc. to ensure a quality product while hitting a standard production rate.
3. Performs frequent inspections of product, both visually and using O.D. Tape and calipers.
4. Prepares and completes necessary paperwork.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
2. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
3. Maintain production schedules.
4. Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
5. Other duties may be assigned later.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Carrying, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and grasping are done on an occasional basis.
3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
Production work preferred but not required

1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
2. Basic knowledge and use of hand tools
3. Sound decision making skills
4. Good math, reading, writing skills
5. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
6. Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product
7. Strong trouble shooting skills
Skills/Competencies:
1. Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package
2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
