Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reports directly to the department Supervisor
- Works closely with department trainers and mentors
- Ability to work in a safe manner and to identify if equipment is safe to operate
- Ability to keep their work area clean and follow lean principles of 5-S standards and standard work
- Ability to work within high performance team guidelines (HPT) developing and implementing innovative processes or guidelines
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner, that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment
- Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.
- Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately
- Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner
Quadrant 1
Read and interpret job routings, processes, prints and Assembly scheduling board
Ability to grasp basic knowledge of blueprints
Build packing boxes and generate box labels at Assembly computer station
Complete “Day by the Hour” charts for the department, calculating rate and down time
Master how to complete a control card, package parts and weigh parts using department scales
Take good direction and at times, perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Quadrant 2
Ability to grasp basic knowledge of blueprints
Produce and measure finished parts using gages, scales, calipers, micrometers
Perform torque measurement with recognized procedures
Quadrant 3
Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions on some set up of work stations and tables
Product and inspect finished parts to First Piece Approval (FPA, complete Quality Information Sheet (QIS) and end of order procedures
Recognize how to scrap a part or parts and standard procedure for disposition of scrapped parts
Begin developing and retaining set up knowledge by machine to department standards
Learn to troubleshoot operations of Assembly work centers
Quadrant 4
Ability to inspect work to assure all specifications are met
Ability to train, instruct and assist trainees through the training period
Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to set ups and operations within recognized procedures
Become the “Subject Matter Expert” (SME) on 80% of work centers, machine by machine
Proceed on work assignments with minimum supervision and assistance
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge and use of hand tools and measuring devices
- Sound decision making skills, strong troubleshooting skills
- Good math, reading, writing skills, mechanical aptitude
- Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product
- Basic computer skills
Education and Experience:
- Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Experience in a medium paced manufacturing environment
