- Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from
- the part to be copied or fitted.
- Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types
- of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine
- tool feeds and speeds.
- Heat treats and welds parts as required.
- Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging
- tools, performing required inspection before, during, and after machining.
- Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Uses
- hand tools of the trade.
- Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Sets up, runs off, and tests dies to
- produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and
- correcting same.
- May assist machinists and millwrights in punch press overhaul.
- May work with product designers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products.
- Complies with all work instructions, safety policies, and standards of conduct.
- Continue to keep current in skills through training, classes and on the job training.
- Capable of cross training within multiple areas creating flexibility and understanding.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education required: | Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required |
Experience: | Completion of formal apprenticeship program. |

Physical Requirements: | 1. Exert 25 to 80 pounds of force seldom, and/or 2. Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force sometimes. 3. Exert up to 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 4. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly. 5. Stand, walk, push, pull reach overhead and bend to the floor. |
