Gift Shop Assistant

The Parker Jewish Institute, located in New Hyde Park, NY, is seeking a Gift Shop Assistant with a strong customer service and retail background, to join our team of professionals in our retail Gift Shop, located in the lobby level of our nursing home.
Position Overview

Assists in purchasing and maintaining adequate stock and supplies for the Gift Shop

Coordinates the New York State Lottery game sales for the Parker Gift Shop

Responsible for selling lottery games and is responsible for assisting with ordering supplies as needed, maintaining stock of games, insuring that self-serve terminal is stocked and operable at all times

Maintains and supervises adequate number of volunteer sales staff

Responsible for working with the Finance Department to insure the accurate reporting of sales, deposits and any other required documentation in a timely manner

Position Requirements

Experience working in retail; minimum 2 years preferred

Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed

High School Diploma or equivalent

Ability to work cooperatively with the volunteer workforce, work well under pressure, and be respectful of others, friendly, courteous and well mannered

Physical ability to stand most of the day and carry equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds
