We are recruiting a diverse pool of undergraduate and graduate students for a unique opportunity to obtain real-world experience in aging services.
The Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, conveniently located on the Queens-Nassau County border in New Hyde Park, New York, is a world class, non-profit health care facility that offers short term rehabilitation, sub-acute care and nursing home care, as well as community-based health care; home health care, and a hospice program that serves terminally ill patients in their own homes or in nursing facilities, including Parker's nursing home.

What you need to know?
- A preceptor will guide the intern and meet with the intern weekly and as needed
- A summer project(s) will be assigned to the intern that will benefit the organization and culminate with a special project presentation to key leaders
- The intern will receive access to high-level executives and insight into the decision-making process within the organization.
- The intern and preceptor will attend virtual LeadingAge Summer Enrichment Program events, including:
- Summer Enrichment Program - A networking event for Interns
- Summer Enrichment Program - A networking event for Preceptors
- Formal performance feedback upon completion of the internship
- To shape, develop, and mentor a diverse workforce bound for leadership roles
- To provide additional skills to prepare students to enter the job market, including presentations and a performance evaluation to enhance their experience further
- To provide a positive learning experience, including a final evaluation focusing on positive accomplishments and opportunities for growth
- The internship will consist of six components, allowing the intern to observe, and ultimately develop, healthcare leadership skills. The components are Administration, Quality Management and Regulatory Affairs, Administration-on-Duty Program, Clinic Operations, Nursing and Finance
- Undergraduate or graduate student-undergraduates must be entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate study in the Fall following the program
- A 2.8 minimum grade point average on a 4.0 scale
- Excellent communication skills-will be able to work effectively and diplomatically with various publics, including residents, board members, community groups, government agencies, etc.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Able to work in person at our facility located in New Hyde Park, NY
- In-person
- Housing will not be provided.
- $25 hourly
