Parker Towing Company operates Ports and Terminals in Ashland City and Chattanooga, Tennessee; Decatur, Pickensville, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Demopolis, Axis, and Mobile, Alabama. Qualified applicants must be motivated to work a flexible schedule, eager to work with a multitude of cargos, be prepared to serve our customers in a variety of projects and accept variances in work schedule to include occasional weekends and holidays. Some travel may be required.
- This particular job opening is for our Ashland City Terminal located right outside of Nashville, TN in Ashland City, though the job may require some work at our other facilities from time to time.
Motivated candidates will have the opportunity to progress within the organization and potentially qualify for differing positions in Operations and Management based upon skill sets and aptitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Operating Skid Steers, Other Forklifts and EquipmentAssist loading / unloading bargesAssist with cleaning bargesAssist crane operatorsLoads and unloads inbound / outbound trailers. Ensures all scanning completed correctly. Helps train dock employees on new procedures.Assist in the maintenance of the facilityPerforms material moves with associated transactions as required by the customerWorks at a continuous fast pacePerforms the assigned tasks as directed to include the physical handling of materials within associated customer needsCompletes assignments safely within the allotted timeParticipates in work group and other team activities for the purpose of self improvement and improving port operations and related business functionsADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Abides by all company safety policies and proceduresResponsible for performing work assignments in an accurate, timely and safe mannerOperates forklift and manual pallet jackCompletes required training as scheduledREQUIREMENTS :
High School diploma or equivalentMust have a valid driver's licenseMust live within 50 miles of Ashland CityOne (1) year or more related shipping / receiving or warehouse preferredForklift certification is a plus, but not requiredAbility to lift at least 50 pounds unassistedStrong verbal and written communication skillsCapacity to transact system information in a productive mannerAbility to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)Ability to work independently and as a member of a teamPossesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environmentCapable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skillsDetail oriented with excellent follow-up practicesWHAT WE OFFER :
