Job Summary:The Nashville Marine Terminal Port Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, safety, and overall efficiency of the Nashville Marine Terminal. This role ensures compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations while driving productivity and continuous improvement. The Port Manager will lead a team of employees, coordinate cargo handling operations, and foster relationships with customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of terminal operations, including coordinating cargo handling from barge or truck using cranes and heavy equipment to maximize efficiency and throughput.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce all safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Coast Guard, and other applicable regulations. Lead safety training initiatives and promote a culture of safety awareness.
- Customer Relations: Maintainand develop relationships with existing and prospective customers, ensuring high levels of service and responsiveness. Address customer concerns and identify opportunities for growth.
- Team Leadership: Supervise terminal employees, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Ensure all terminal equipment and infrastructure are properly maintained, conducting routine inspections and coordinating repairs as needed.
- Strategic Planning: Work closely with the sales and operations team to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with company goals and improve terminal efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement operational improvements to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance overall terminal performance.
- Regulatory and Environmental Compliance: Work closely with local, state, and federal agencies to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of operations, safety incidents, and regulatory compliance. Provide regular reports to senior management.
- Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience in terminal or port operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in marine terminal operations, logistics, or a similar industrial setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of maritime industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with employees, customers, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and terminal management software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Work is performed in an industrial and outdoor setting, requiring exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and operate equipment as needed.
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or operational needs.
