General Statement of Duties
This non-exempt, temporary position will support the Safety department in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. This role involves assisting in the implementation of safety programs, conducting inspections, and promoting safety awareness among employees.
Supervision Received
Works under the direct supervision of the Safety Coordinator and the indirect supervision of the Human Resources Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Safety Program Support:
• Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
• Help organize and participate in safety training sessions for employees.
Inspections and Audits:
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards.
• Report findings to the Safety Coordinator and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Incident Reporting:
• Support the documentation and investigation of workplace incidents and near misses.
• Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and training.
Safety Awareness:
• Promote a culture of safety by communicating safety messages and best practices to employees.
• Distribute safety materials and resources to staff.
Compliance Assistance:
• Assist in ensuring compliance with local and state safety regulations.
• Help prepare for safety inspections.
Emergency Preparedness:
• Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
• Participate in emergency drills and training exercises.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Solid knowledge and competence in the use of computer software, including but not limited to, accounting software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize priorities to meet deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding information and sensitive personnel materials in a professional manner.
• Ability to work independently with broad direction and limited supervision.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers.
• Accurately record and input numbers and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Qualifications / Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in occupational safety or a related field is preferred.
• Must have a Motor Vehicle Record within the Acceptable or no less than Borderline rating according to the Vehicle Policy.
Working Conditions/Physical Activities
• 20-40 hours per workweek.
• Standard office environment with constant interruptions and deadlines; mostly sedentary work with computer use for prolonged periods
• Vision is needed for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech and hearing are used to communicate with customers and other employees over the telephone, on a two-way radio and in person.
• Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 10 to 15 pounds occasionally and/or up to 5 pounds frequently.

Qualifications
Salary : $20 - $22
